SOPs

TL;DR an SOP is opened to discuss a potential change to Cascadia. The goal of an SOP is to use community discussion to evolve into a Cascadia Improvement Proposal (CIP) or Treasury Allocation Proposal (TAP).

Speak One’s Piece (SOPs) are intended to be part of a consistent and controlled path for proposing changes to Sophon so that all members can be confident that Sophon is evolving towards its utility and products, and so that all members have the opportunity to be heard.

An SOP is the first step when proposing changes to Sophon. It can be a full or partial, proposal that is expected to evolve over time as a result of the discussion. Although it is expected that an SOP will change over many times, it is still required to be clear and concise with respect to the change that it is proposing.

SOPs can be accepted or rejected. An accepted SOP is one that has received enough support from the community that an appropriate SIP or TAP may be opened. This usually means the SOP has been discussed in enough depth that all ambiguities and concerns have been addressed. When an SOP is accepted, this does not mean that the respective changes will be implemented. It means that an appropriate SIP or TAP may be opened.
